San Juan

We celebrate today the Birthday of John the Baptist.
He is the forerunner of Jesus. “Who prepared the way of the Lord,”

He is called John the Baptist because he was the humble baptizer of Jesus at Jordan.
Today back home you will get wet if you walk down the street because people will have all the right to sprinkle water at anybody and get them wet because it is San Juan.

He was a gift to Elizabeth and Zechariah who were in their old age and without child.
The name John means God is gracious, or Yahweh’s gift because he was really a Gift from God for his parents.

God is Gracious. God loves us and have showered upon us his Blessings.
I just hope that we realize this that even amidst our crosses and sorrows in life. We can still say that we can count on our blessings.
There will always be things that God has given us and we did not even ask for it and never expected. Just like John a gift to Elizabeth and Zechariah.
Let us not forget to say thank You.

God is Gracious, He will always Bless His loves ones and for those who ask he will give.
Learn to ASK.
Friends!, God wants to give you the desire of your heart. Although God knows what you need and desire before you ask, He loves for his Children to ask of Him. His Word says, call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show you great and mighty things, which you did not know. He also says, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that ask, receive; and he that seek, find; and to him that knock it shall be opened. Mt. 7:7.

Ask the Lord what you want and believe that He will give and will never fail.
1. Is it material possessions or financial help that you need
2, Is it perhaps peace and happiness in your life or at home?
3. Or good health and alleviation from pain.
4. A Husband or a wife? This is only for those not married yet.

Never say its impossible. There is nothing impossible with God, we really have nothing to loose in asking, believe!. God is Gracious.
For 12 years in my life as a priest I was asking the lord to give me a chance to travel and study, and there was no way in sight. Even an approval from the Bishop I was not given for 13 years. But I prayed for it and ask sincerely for it.
And it came 2 years ago. I went to study in Rome, then I was saying masses in other countries, then I am in Bayville. And it is just like heaven. If only you know how it is for us back home. God is indeed gracious.

I believe each one need something from God. ASK! And it shall be given
Impossible? Just believe god will have His way for us.

Yes we need something from god and we ask. And there would always be others who are asking for help from the lord.
Like our brothers and sisters who are praying for the war to end, others are asking for a simple shelter or maybe for food. And clothing. I think at time we can instruments of gods love and graciousness and we share with others what God has given us.
Just as God shows us his being Gracious, we are also invited to be gracious with those in need.

We Pray
Lord you have bless us so much, truly you love us and have Give us a lot through your blessings. There are things we need and we ask believing that you will never fail us. Teach us also to be gracious, may the love we received from you we will learn to share it to others. That we will also become givers. All this we ask through Christ our lord amen.

Jesus was with his apostles with teachers of the law one day as he was preaching.
A woman of ill- refute, despised, looked-down by many, approached Jesus,
She waited behind him at his feet, weeping, and her tears fell on his feet, and she wiped them away with her hair; then she covered his feet with kisses and anointed them with the ointment. Luke 7:36 - 8:3. .
The apostles reprimanded her.
Jesus on the other hand, acknowledge what she did and in the end even forgave her sins.

This woman, Mary Magdalene, a sinner, a good for nothing woman, just did something good for the Lord and she was blessed.
Like Magdalene, we know that we all have our imperfections, our sinfulness but as she showed to us. Yes, we can still do something good. In life, for others, and even for the Lord.
I saw the movie Shrek 3, towards the end, the villains in fairy tail stories wanted to avenge for how they were treated badly in the stories. When suddenly Arthur, the boy who would be king reminded them that its never too late, they can still do something good in life and for others.
No one is really that bad that he cannot do something good in life.
Look for that opportunity, ask what we can do everyday in our lives that would make others happy. Like for dads as we celebrate fathers day.
Like Jesus, He taught us many things but he also had done so many good works, cure the sick, raise the dead, comforted those in sorrow and he served and ask us to do the same.
Mary was reprimanded, scolded by the apostles.. But Jesus admired her for what she did and acknowledge her, by blessing her.
There are times when we do good, people will judge us negatively and sometimes we do good and we look around no one is there to clap their hands or affirm us.
But Jesus sees everything and knows the good we do.
In the end we can be blessed and redeemed by our good works.
Mother Theresa of Calcutta, never preached about Love or service but she just did it..

I am reminded of a comparison between a necktie and handkerchief. A necktie make one look good presentable, and it stays in the center but a handkerchief is placed inside the pocket but it serves its purpose wipe perspiration, tears, using for blowing noses and yet after serving its purpose it is kept inside the pocket not to be seen by many,
Maybe we can ask also. What kind of Christian we would like to be. A Necktie Christian? Or a Handkerchief Christian.

I believe in the end, The Lord will judge us not by the mistakes we did the good works we have done.
May we live a life of good works for others and for God , amen

We celebrate today the memorial of corpus Christi. Meaning the Body and Blood of Christ. Given to us by Jesus Himself at the Last supper. “Broken shared and mandated to do in his memory.”

Jesus said:
"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink His blood, you have no life in you; he who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."
-- John 6:53, 54

1. We are reminded today of receiving Christ into our lives, to be our strength, our courage, our protection, our nourishment.
Surely, food is important for us to survive to be physically fit and healthy, but we also need to be nourished spiritually so that we will be completely, holistically healthy.
“Men sana in corpore sano.“ by a Roman Poet Juvenal
A healthy body with a healthy spirit. It is never good to be physically healthy but spiritually malnourished.
2. We are reminded also today to try to understand a little better what the Eucharist or the MASS is, in our Life and in the Life of the Church.
Sad to say, somehow it has become so familiar and so ordinary that few take delight on it.
Other things or events can draw a crowd these days Like concerts or parties and yes the St. Gertrude’s feast but not the Eucharist. Somebody observed last Thursday, looking at the crowd in the feast. If only half of these people will go to church it will be a lot.

Dear brothers and sisters, the Holy Mass, the Eucharist, we should remember should always be the center of our lives as Catholics.
We cannot just go on by making it something unimportant.. A Public official once here in new York is running for president and he is a catholic but when asked where church does he go?. He said.. No comment,

It is important for each one of us dear brothers and sisters..
St. Theresa of Calcutta said, when the Eucharist is taken for granted something breaks up in our life.

Looking at how few would go to church nowadays,
Surely there is something wrong. Just like that story of the priest who started the mass and the microphone was not working, and frustrated he said there is something wrong with the microphone and people answered and also with you.

For us priest we are reminded to offer it sincerely and faithfully. We should be the celebrant rightly and properly. Celebrant. Not depressant. When because of us people are discouraged. Celebrant not celebrity when we take the acknowledgement, not Christ anymore.

As we receive Christ today, may we be renewed and become better persons, growing in our love for one another and Christ.
May we grow in our appreciation and love for the Eucharist. As the source and summit of our christian Life, Amen

Our profession of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit is central to our Faith. Remember how whenever we pray and start the mass and do anything we always begin with the sign of the Cross? It is a profession of our Faith in the Triune God. We will always be Trinitarian.

Unlike other feast when we celebrate a special day, Trinity Sunday is a celebration of a Belief, a teaching and we hold it as true that there are Three Persons in One God.

Now, this is a mystery, it is something that human mind can never fathom or understand. It just go against logic and mathematics. Like when we say 1+1+1=3, BUT HERE IT IS 1+1+1+1=1

Augustine once told. Walking by the seaside meditating on the Trinity, he saw a boy digging a hole in the sand. The boy told him he was going to put the sea into the hole. When Augustine said it was impossible to put the whole sea into that little hole, the boy replied that it would be easier than understanding the Trinity. The boy disappeared, that it was an angel reminding him of the futility of trying to study about the trinity.

But we believe.
Because Christ said so. In the gospel we here him go therefore and make disciples of all nations. In the name of the father…

Meaning of the Celebration for you and me. It tells us about UNITY

The Father, the son and Holy Spirit. Are three different persons. But they are one in Love. They are united.

Unity is not something difficult for all of us to understand. Our country itself, Is strong and progressing and growing even amidst threats. Because of UNITY. There is only one United states.

Unity means when we are one and close to someone or a group. When we share one goal, that is for the common good, when in the group or in the family or in community we respect each other and we help each other achieve something good.

1.There is a call for each one to be close. United and one with the Lord.. for as he said “Apart from me you can do nothing.”
2. It pays and it is a wonderful experience when the family is one and together. Spending time together at home and even in prayer.
3. It is something when a community is together and united, working with each other to achieve a common end.
Like a cart being pulled by many to one direction and together, will cause the cart to move forward faster and well.
Aesop and later by John Dickinson-in his revolutionary song. “United we stand, divided we fall.”

Let us pray for Unity
Let also pray that just as the Three Persons are united in Love. May we also grow in our Love for the Lord and for each other.
This is a site of "Leaps of Faith" experiences and reflections. Be it Philosophical, Theological, Practical or Personal. It is also a site of Biblical reflections. But Above all, This is a site for YOU and ME.

"Leaps of Faith"

"LEAPS OF FAITH" Can be a religious movement of a person, an inner movement of belief, of trust on the greatest power of all, The Supreme being..Our Creator and Maker..Our God. They can be resolutions of a person everyday in his life to move forward, to be a better person, and to start a new life. They can be decisions of a person in times of great uncertainties, when he is not sure of what will come or happen and he makes a leap of faith. They can be steps, difficult steps that a person makes on his way to change or to start anew. Or they can simply be a persons resolve to fly, to widen his horizons, to learn more about life and to grow. These are Leaps of faith we make everyday and in great moments of our lives and they are worth considering and reflecting.
