"Increase our Faith"

October 4, 2007. A special date in St. Gertrudes, in Bayville NY, When we had a wonderful, meaningful and successful Healing mass attended by so many believers in the Healing Power of Jesus. Some said it was the biggest gathering ever of Prayer for healing in Long Island attended by many priests and deacons and Bishop Libasci and the preacher and healer was Fr. Anthony Ozele. It was a night filled with LOVE and FAITH.

At one time when seeing the crowd started to fill up the whole building, and I was getting worried, I said “we will surely run out of chairs tonight.”. But I was awaken and reminded when a Parishioner “Lara” remarked: “where is your faith Father?”

Surely, we all have faith. We believe. That there is a power and force greater than all of us. Precisely why we are here attending the mass. Our religion is our faith.

But it is a reality that we fall short in our faith.. We doubt and we question. We doubt the sincerity and faithfulness of a love one and others, it can happen we doubt even about God.
Remember Mother Theresa of Calcutta. Very soon for sure she will be canonized a saint but recently we all heard how she herself questioned and doubted her faith and the Love of Jesus.
We all have a weak faith, we are not that strong and perfect
That’s why in the Gospel there is a request and Prayer: “Lord, Increase our Faith.”

This our weak faith, remember also. Many times, it will be tested. It can be tested by tragedies in Life, loss, separation, sickness and even financial problems..

But we can learn from Mother Theresa today. She doubted , yes. But she never stopped desiring to be close to the Lord and to continue serving and doing good.

Story: A man who just started serving the church and really was serving faithfully was just diagnosed when he went for a checkup with a terminal cancer in its serious stage and was given only 5 months to live. How do we comfort him. What are the ride words to tell him to encourage him.
But this man said instead. I am sad not because I am sick but because I could have served earlier and I could have done a lot more for the Lord.

Lord, Increase my Faith. Amen

This is a site of "Leaps of Faith" experiences and reflections. Be it Philosophical, Theological, Practical or Personal. It is also a site of Biblical reflections. But Above all, This is a site for YOU and ME.

"Leaps of Faith"

"LEAPS OF FAITH" Can be a religious movement of a person, an inner movement of belief, of trust on the greatest power of all, The Supreme being..Our Creator and Maker..Our God. They can be resolutions of a person everyday in his life to move forward, to be a better person, and to start a new life. They can be decisions of a person in times of great uncertainties, when he is not sure of what will come or happen and he makes a leap of faith. They can be steps, difficult steps that a person makes on his way to change or to start anew. Or they can simply be a persons resolve to fly, to travel..to widen his horizons, to learn more about life and to grow. These are Leaps of faith we make everyday and in great moments of our lives and they are worth considering and reflecting.
